1. Happy clients keep us busy!

As a small freelance web design outfit, we don’t have a dedicated sales team or a big marketing budget. Most of our work comes through referrals or repeat work for existing clients. The general idea is to do great work and provide great service, our clients will then tell everyone they know, and we’ll get more work! See what our clients have to say.

2. We don’t know everything.

We may know about web design and graphics but nobody knows your business better than you. This means we actually listen to our clients. Identifying your goals and ideas lay the groundwork for a website. A client centered approach, combined with our knowledge of what works on the web makes for an intuitive website that will satisfy the client and deliver a product that meets their objectives.

3. We design websites.

That may sound obvious but anyone with a computer and web authoring software can call themselves  a web designer, and many do. Building successful websites requires a knowledge of web technologies, web standards, design and usability.  This can only be acquired through experience and education. Professional website design is not a hobby. We are dedicated professionals, not enthusiasts. If you are paying someone for a website you’ll want them to have more than templates and enthusiasm.

4. Great value for money.

Our pricing is very straightforward. You tell us what you want and we give you a price. This can be broken down to let you know exactly what you are getting for your money. We don’t believe anyone should pay for something they are unsatisfied with. For this reason we only take a percentage of the agreed fee upfront and the client pays us the balance when they are completely happy with the work we have done. 5. Small is good.

As a small freelance web studio, our workload is relatively modest at any given time. This allows us to concentrate on a few sites rather than juggle a backlog of projects at various stages of completion. This means we can offer great service. We are available via phone Monday to Friday during office hours (GMT) and, excluding weekends, we usually respond to emails within a few hours. But don’t take our word for it, see our testimonials.

6. We are ancient.

We have been building websites for ten years, in web terms that practically makes us fossils.  The days of flashing purple text, java animation, flash-based sites and dot com bubbles are mostly a thing of the past. Seeing how things have evolved and changed  in this period has put us in a position to know what seems to work and what doesn’t.

7. We are all left-handed.

At Ladybird Media we are all left-handed. According to research conducted by Dr. Roger Sperry, right-handed people process information using “analysis” while left-handed people process information using a “visual simultaneous” method in which several “threads” can be processed simultaneously. A side effect of these differing styles of processing is that right-handers need to complete one task before they can start the next. Left-handers, by contrast, are capable and comfortable switching between tasks. This seems to suggest that left-handed people are more visually inclined and have an excellent ability to multi-task. Perfect for web design!

8. We do more than web design.

We don’t just build websites. We can also manage your domain names, search engine optimisation, email marketing, hosting and email. While we provide all the services mentioned above, we prefer to let the client register their domain name and hosting themselves. The main reason for this is to protect the client. Many companies offer theses services then add on fees for the annual renewal of domains and hosting. With our help, clients can easily fix this  themselves and retain complete control of their domain name and website. This means that in the future if you choose to go elsewhere for your design needs you won’t be  tied to us. Additionally you won’t have to worry about dealing with someone down the line who wants to milk you for money for something as simple as renewing a hosting plan or domain name. Nice of us don’t you think?

9. We walk the walk and, occasionally, talk the talk.

With the possible exception of a few unnamed Irish politicians, most people would agree that honesty is usually the best policy. We are interested in getting as much work as possible but we know our limitations. We make sure we have the time and skills required by a prospective client before going ahead with a project. Farming out work we cannot do ourselves doesn’t make much sense in the long run. Promising something that we can’t realistically pull off is also something we avoid. Luckily that’s rarely the case. If it is, it’s important we say so up front. This avoids headaches and wasted time for everyone involved.
